Your social media strategy matters in SEO

Current marketing trends point towards being an active participant in social media as a reliable way to rank well with search engines. Google released a new set of algorithms this year and although they keep updating the list, it looks like quality is still the king of SEO (Search Engine Optimization). Your social media strategy matters a great deal when it comes to effective SEO. Here are three things that you can do right now to give your site rankings a boost.

Double check your website to make sure your social media “connect” buttons are easy to find on each and every page. This allows your website visitors to easily share the quality information they find on your website. Google cares about the user’s experience. Take the time to make sure you are easy to “follow” and you will be rewarded with higher rankings.

Use your blog as your voice. Better content equals more readers. Google is paying attention to how much time users spend on your site, so the extra effort it takes to really engage your readers will be worth it. Keep the information you publish relevant to your niche, up to date, engaging, and lively. Make sure your readers can comment and be an active part of the conversation. Publishing high quality content will establish you as an expert. That matters to your customers and to your site rankings.

If you aren’t yet a guest author on other sites within your niche, you are missing a huge opportunity for SEO. Contact a few blog authors you admire and offer to write a guest post for them. Maybe they’ll write one for you, too. Hosting guest authors helps keep your blog interesting to readers as well. Make sure your guest post includes an outbound link to your site. Remember to link to your guest posts from your Twitter, Facebook, and Google+ accounts, too.

SEO marketing is time consuming. Many busy business owners find that outsourcing all or part of the essential upkeep of SEO marketing is a great way to make sure their site stays healthy in the search engine rankings, while not letting the process take them away from the day to day operations of running a successful business. If you decide to take on the SEO world yourself, keep checking back with this blog for helpful tips. The Top 10 Commandments of Link Building

Have you been overwhelmed at the concept of link-building? It sounds like a daunting task, doesn't it? I know that I've often steered away because of how detailed and tedious and especially time consuming link building can be. I always opt for the automated method. The other option is to hire someone at a low wage to do the work for you. SEO companies can also be hired to do this for you.

I really find this infographic from klikki.com to be a great visual representation and summary of the Top 10 Link-building Techniques. It de-mystifies the actual steps you need to take to get those backlinks to increase your pagerank.

KliKKi is a leading search marketing agency in the Nordic region providing SEO services to numerous multinational brands both locally and globally.

I've noticed that the infographic is missing items such as great quality content, video/YouTube links, and other social media links, like, shares, etc.

Your Top 10 List Building Tactics for 2011

Happy 2011!

The core thing that influences the success of every business is the viability of your customer list. While there is much debate over quality vs. quantity, I will always take that stand that you need BOTH. You want a large list (quantity) that contains your ideal customer (quality). (I’ll be sharing more about this on my free teleclass “5 Simple Keys to Attract Your Ideal Customer: How to Get More Leads, Build Your List and Grow Your Business FAST!”)

As we enter this new year, I asked you to share with me what are your biggest priorities in 2011. I specifically asked you to tell me what you most needed to focus on most when it comes to list building, lead generating and traffic building. This is what you said (listed in order)…

  1. Blogging
  2. Referrals
  3. Keywords
  4. On-page SEO (Search Engine Optimization)
  5. Video
  6. Joint Ventures
  7. Teleseminars
  8. Article Marketing
  9. Affiliate Marketing
  10. Facebook & Twitter [tied]

So what do you think? Do you agree with this list? What would you add or change?
