Shareable Content: A Valuable Social Media Strategy

The vast majority of posts on blogs are not high on the “shareable” ranking.  In other words, they don’t jump out to you, make you feel something, or drive you to – most importantly – share it with your friends and family.

From your perspective, you would like content to be shared on social networks.  After all, that is the point with this social media strategy: to make high-caliber content that drives readers to share it with others.  If that happens, the likes, comments, follows, and further shares will follow, resulting in a larger following for your business.

How do you create this kind of content?  Headlines that jump out the reader help, such as the case with “Kangaroo attack: How to protect yourself against a rampaging kangaroo?”  Lists that cause an emotional connection also work – it usually requires some sort of emotional foundation, such as humor, heavy interest, or a story that provokes a negative reaction.  From that to outright surprise – as can be seen with “The 57 Belly-Busting Foods on a Stick at the Iowa State Fair” – it has to hit some kind of nerve.

You may wonder how this is relevant to your business.  After all, many businesses aren’t involved with kangaroos or odd foods.  That may be the case, but you can still find something interesting and engaging – i.e. “10 Unusual and Funny Uses for Your Notebook/Laptop.”
